The undeniable highlight of the Masai Mara National Reserve is undoubtedly the annual wildebeest migration traversing the vast plains of the Serengeti and the Masai Mara. It is known as the largest mass movement of land mammals on the planet – with more than a million animals following the rains. Large prides of lions, elephants, giraffes, gazelles and eland can also be spotted in the reserve. Aside from horse riding safaris and traditional vehicle safaris, hot-air ballooning over the Mara plains has become almost essential.

DAY 1

This morning Mwema Africa Safaris Representative will pick you up from the Airport or at your Nairobi hotel and drive through the Great Rift Valley to the famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve.
This reserve is an extension of the vast Serengeti plains known for its spectacular great wildebeest’s migration and home to the Big Five Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhino.

Arrive in time for Lunch and check in at our Lodge, relax before departing for an afternoon game drive. The Mara Game Reserve is one of the greatest wildernesses of the world. Large mammals are varied, and easy to see. Residents among the Parks are: Maasai Giraffe, Buffalo, Eland and thousands of plain game including Impala, Zebra, Topi, both Thomson’s and grants Gazelles.

DAY 2

Early morning tea/coffee or hot chocolate then depart for a morning game drive in these grasslands dotted by acacia trees and sweeping plains, return to your lodge for breakfast. You still have an option for a full day game drive with picnic lunch boxes to explore more wildlife.

Optional Activities:
*Early morning balloon ride to have an aerial view of the wildlife as they rise up to graze or even make a kill
*Visit Maasai Village to witness the singing and dancing and other daily activities in their Manyatta.
Dinner and overnight at Siana Springs Tented Camp

DAY 3

Breakfast at your Lodge, check out with an enroute game drive as you bid farewell to the great plains of Maasai Mara. Arrival in Nairobi and drop at your hotel or at the Jommo Kenyatta Airport for your departure home.
